I bought this gargoyle years ago at the arts festival held each year in the park behind my parents' house in Charlotte. I believe I was a freshman or sophomore in high school at the time, and I loved his squinty eyes and the way his tongue stuck out. It encapsulated some of my feelings about life at the time. "Blehhh!"
I've carried this little guy with me though six years of postsecondary education and beyond. These days he sits on top of my TV. When I'm feeling down or grumpy, I look at his little face. "Blehhh!" he says. And I smile.
