Leo

Leo was my dog for ten days, until I admitted that my life at present did not accomodate the little guy who, in the long run, would need more attention than I could give him. I know I did the right thing by giving him up, but it upset me more than I ever could have guessed. I came very close to deleting all the photos I took of him, because it made me sad to see them. But I'm glad I didn't.

Christina put it well: "You should definitely keep the pictures. One day you'll look back and laugh at the time in your life you tried to do it all and realized that it is impossible for anyone."

Gulls

Seagulls battling the stiff wind near Corpus Christi back in April.

Wings Spread

This great blue heron was just chillin' on the same rocky outcropping I was standing on to shoot the surfer pictures two days ago. He was pretty fearless for a bird; I got within 10 or 15 feet of him before he flew away. This shot was actually taken after I had startled him; he flew to this spot about 30 feet away and was just landing when I snapped this photo.

In other news, I'm proud to have written and photographed an article in the May issue of Photoblogs Magazine. (Other contributors are Massimo, Zishaan, Whit, John, and Pablo. Thanks as well to editor Matt.) The article is about some of the historical items around NASA's Johnson Space Center. Those of you who know me and work with me probably won't learn anything new, but for those who don't, I hope it's educational. :)

Chihuahua

I've been thinking of getting a dog lately, specifically, a chihuahua or chi mix. This cute little guy was wandering around at the Corpus Christi triathlon last weekend, braving the chilly breeze. If you look at his face, you can almost feel how brisk the wind was!

And, coming up in the next few days, some nice photos of waterfalls and trails taken Saturday and yesterday at Pedernales Falls State Park just past Austin.
