Nature: January 2005 Archives
Yesterday's flower is beginning to bloom, but this one on the taller stalk is a little shy.
I always wait too long to buy an amaryllis bulb each year. I forget to even look until a few days before Christmas, by which point Lowe's has inevitably sold them all. This year, a post-holiday outing got results -- an already potted and close to blooming flower. A week later, it's starting to open up...
As the song goes...
Way down yonder on the Chattahoochee,
never knew how much that muddy water meant to me.
But I learned how to swim and I learned who I was,
a lot about livin' and a little 'bout love.
This is the Chattahoochee River as seen from the park near Carter's condo. It was a hazy, washed-out day so I think the photo looks better in black and white.
I've been having a little fun with black and white lately. This was taken last weekend near the Chattahoochee River in Atlanta.
Update: This, thankfully, is not the river. This was an icky puddle nearby.
