As I turned away from the sunrise on Surfside Beach, I noticed that the dunes were lined with dead, dried Christmas trees. I'm not sure why.

As I drove into Surfside Beach for a half marathon, I climbed a bridge over the Intercoastal waterway. At the top, I noticed the sun right on the horizon. I drove straight ahead to the beach to take a quick photo before it rose any higher.
