Galveston Island, as seen from the air, is just a tiny strip of land along the Gulf Coast. You can see I-45 running south and crossing the water to the island. While on this flight, I had just finished reading Isaac's Storm, an excellent book about the 1900 hurricane that flooded the city and killed 6,000 people and couldn't help but wonder what would happen if another large hurricane headed our way...
Seen from about 18,000 feet as I flew from Houston to Corpus Christi.
I was going through some old photos and found this one from Austin City Limits back in September. People often use balloons and flags to help find one another in the massive crowds. I'm a sucker for anything shot against a blue sky.
The weather has been strange this fall, but it definitely has produced some nice sunsets.
I obviously didn't take this one within the past week, considering the fact that it's been raining basically non-stop.
While I was en route from Charlotte to Houston, the plane flew past en route to...somewhere mysterious and cool, I'm sure.
