Travel: October 2005 Archives
I take so many photos out of planes that I could probably just rename this photoblog "plane shots" or something...
Somewhere in the Mojave Desert, as seen through the very streaky window of a Southwest flight yesterday morning from LAX to HOU.
Today is my one-year anniversary of being a photoblogger. Yay!
I was originally scheduled to come back from JPL this afternoon, but I changed my reservations (and those of my traveling companions) to a flight that left LAX at 6:55 this morning. That meant getting up at 4. Why? Well, I had to be back in Houston in time for the Astros game, of course!
We did see a nice sunrise as we took off over the Pacific and then turned back east. Just off the coast was this strange-looking cloud swirl that looked a lot like a hurricane, only a lot smaller.
I'm staying at the Sheraton in Pasadena, and I have to say -- this is by far the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in. My alarm goes off and I have no desire to get up. I just want to stay amongst the pillows and stretch in all directions. King size, all for me.
I'm in Pasadena, California for a few days for work. This is the view from my hotel room. It may not look exciting to everyone, but after looking out the window in Houston at nothing but scrubs and flatness, a view with green trees and mountains is incredible.
I've been feeling...well...let's just say I've been feeling rather wistful lately. For a lot of reasons. When I get like this, I fall back to one of the handful of times in my life that I remember feeling utterly, blissfully content with the moment, or to the memory of a person who made me smile. Our trip to Peru, a bit more than a year ago now, was one of those times. And this guy, just for the week we knew him, was one of those people.
My friends are going to laugh at me for this one, want to make fun of me. I'm hoping they'll hold off for my sake. Today's photo isn't here because it's a great photo, or has anything unique about it. It's just here for me.
