Old Glory

Ok, I promise this is the last day of indecision (at least for a while), and no, it's not a cheap ploy to get comments, though I do love them. ;)

Black and white, or color?

This was downtown last weekend, near the Hobby Center. The building on the right is the Bank of America tower, I believe. I don't know what the building with the flag is.

Heaven on Earth

I have something a little different today that I hope you enjoy.

Last weekend I finally paid a visit to the newly renovated and expanded IKEA store here in Houston. I love IKEA. They have such an abundance of cheap but useful household goods. (Who cares if you break a wine glass when you only paid $5 for 4 of them?) I don't actually have much of their furniture except a few bookcases and a TV stand, but it's such a great place to walk through and get interesting and unique decorating ideas.

On a whim, and for a bit of fun, I documented my trip with my camera phone. You can see the entire set here.

From the 26th Floor

I shot this through the window of the hotel room where three of us spent last Saturday night before running the marathon on Sunday. We live in Houston, but the city is so sprawling that staying downtown, where the race started and finished, saved us from a half hour drive the next morning.

It was neat to be so high up, but unfortunately we couldn't see much past the other tall buildings. I had to brace the camera against the window to steady it, but even that didn't work all the time. This was the only shot that really came out clear.

Parking Deck

This is a wall on a parking deck near the Toyota Center in Houston that I saw last week when I went to pick up my marathon packet.

The pattern seemed normal enough in person, but looking back at this photo makes me feel a bit dizzy. Try as I might, I could not find a crop that correctly lined up the rows of circles horizontally, and the resulting perspective makes me feel slightly out of sorts.
